In February the CZJUG went back to the traditional systom of 50-minute presentations. The first presentation was given by Ondrej Nekola on the topic of debugging - not specifically in Java, rather a presentation of nine general rules introduced in the Debugging: The 9 Indispensable Rules for Finding Even the Most Elusive Software and Hardware Problems book. The second presentation was given by Petr Ferschmann (from the WinStrom company) on the topic of development of a cross-platform accounting system FlexiBee.

CZJUG meeting in January 2010 was influenced by growing slim, which is quite common in this part of the year, so instead of the usual 45-minute talks it consisted of several "lightning talks" of up to 7 minutes. Well, some of them were not related to Java (e.g. two or three talks were about Javascript) but it was interesting.

Pár fotek z PGDay 2009 konference (6. - 7.11.2009, Paříž). Přednášky jsou z anglických přednášek, tj. Simon Riggs - PostgreSQL: The Next 20 Years (Keynote), Mark Cave-Ayland - PostGIS 1.4 and beyond: a technical perspective, Gabriele Bartolini - Data warehousing with PostgreSQL, Gavin M. Roy - Scaling PostgreSQL Under Fire, Magnus Hagander - Performance Enhancements In PostgreSQL 8.4, Robert Hodges & Simon Rigg - The Future of PostgreSQL HA.

First CZJUG meeting at MFF UK. Burr Sutter (Red Hat / JBoss) arrived with an interesting presentation about "Blending the worlds of REST, SOA and CEP" summarizing current state of SOA. Petr Ferschmann  then explained some details of "Practical REST API implementation" related to their product WinStrom - see an article at zdrojak.cz (in czech). The presentation records are available at mediacast.sun.com (Burr Sutter's presentation and Petr Ferschmann's presentations) - it was to my first experience with recording such events, so not everything was perfect.

A very nice CZJUGU meeting, especially because: (a) there was plenty of geekish food - pizzy, (b) the same holds for beer (I'm not quite sure beer helps to stay focused). And then of course two very interesting presentations - Hans Dockter talked about Gradle, and Konstantin Solomatov presented JetBrains MPS.

This time there was only one presentation about "dependency indection frameworks" by Roman Pichlik, followed by an introduction of a programming contest for Sun SPOT Jakub Podlesak - quite nice toy ;-) And finally a arrears from the last time - pizza from CA.

Regular CZJUG meeting held in Prague on May 27, 2009. This time with presentations about  Java Server Faces (Zdenek Tronicek) and  TeamCity (Vaclav Pech), and an attractive presentation of a sponsor - CA (Computer Associates).

Some photos from April meeting of CZJUG, that took place on April 29, 2009. This time there were some presentations about software testing (Petr Panuška, Lukáš Hasík) and about distributed collection developed within hazelcast project (Talip Ozturk).

Photos from Prague PostgreSQL developers' day 2009. Presentations were held by Petr Ferschmann from SoftEU about using PostgreSQL to develop WinStrom 10 accounting system, Magnus Hagander from RedPill (and member of PostgreSQL Global Development Group) spoke about using PostreSQL on Windows, Kristo Kaiv from Skype presented projects related to PostreSQL developed within the company (especially Londiste replication system), Simon Riggs from 2nd Quadrant talked about replication. Zdenek Kotala from Sun Microsystems described challenges related to database upgrade, Pavel Hak from Jyxo shared experiences with PostgreSQL as they used it for various projects (blog, apod.) and Daniel Vojtek from MFF talked about parallel processing of queries.

The quality of the photos corresponds to the light conditions (shutter speeds about 1/20s with f/3.5 using ISO 1600 etc.). I still haven't enough time to process them properly (remove unsharp images, crop if needed, etc.)
